Severe weather threat for northern Plains and Midwest
 
Severe thunderstorms are forecast to affect parts of the Plains and Midwest today. Large hail, damaging wind gusts and flash flooding are all possible, along with a tornado or two. The storms are expected to start in the afternoon and last into the evening hours. Forecasters expect the following states to be affected: eastern Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, northern Missouri, northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
 
Consider securing outdoor items as well as parking your vehicle under an enclosure. Be vigilant in checking for tornado warnings.
