Winter storm Helena to affect eastern half of U.S.

After affecting the West Coast, Winter Storm Helena is ready to do the same for the East. Areas of North Carolina, Virginia and the Texas panhandle have the best chance to see 6 or more inches. However, upstate New York will see much more with lake-effect snow bands particularly around Buffalo and Watertown. Lighter snow will fall in parts of Arkansas, Georgia and South Carolina. Following the storm, forecast lows dip into the 20s for portions of the Southeast.
