Heavy Rain to Continue This Weekend for Plains & Midwest

Heavy rain and severe thunderstorms are expected to impact the Plains states and parts of the Midwest over the next few days. Severe thunderstorms and flash flooding are the greatest concerns for the area; the National Weather Service predicts that only 2 to 5 inches of rain in three hours or less in Texas and Oklahoma could cause a flash flood.

Through Monday, 3 to 5+ inches of rain is possible in areas from central Texas into central Oklahoma, including Wichita Falls, Texas, and Tulsa. Other areas throughout the central and southern Plains are expected to see 1 to 3 inches.

Damaging wind gusts, large hail and a small number of tornados are also possible.
