There is the potential for tropical or subtropical development of a system that is currently near the Bahamas. On Thursday afternoon, the National Hurricane Center upgraded the chances of development to 60% over the next two days. While most of the forecast models agree that the system will head straight for the South Carolina and North Carolina coastline – it is still uncertain how organized it will be. Regardless of whether or not formation occurs, there is a chance the Southeast could receive high rainfall totals Memorial Day weekend along with rough surf and rip currents.
