Severe flooding is a possibility for portions of the South and Midwest as heavy rain and severe thunderstorms are expected through the end of the week. Rainfall accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are forecast for eastern Texas to Louisiana and north to Arkansas -- while areas further out may see 3 to 6 inches. Where severe thunderstorms develop, isolated tornadoes can't be ruled out. Those driving should prepare for road closures and be careful not to drive through any pools of water.
