Winter Storm Forecast for Central and Eastern States

A storm system is predicted to spread a round of snow, ice and rain from the Plains to the Great Lakes later this week. The storm will reach the Northeast this weekend.

Up to 6 inches of snow is possible in the upper Midwest, with higher amounts in some areas. While ice accumulation is not expected to cause widespread tree damage or power outages, enough will fall to cause slippery roadways and bridges. As a result, travel delays are possible.

Most areas are then forecast to change to rain or a mix of rain and snow. The system is projected to track into New England during the weekend bringing rain in the south and snow or a wintry mix in the north.
