Threat of Severe Storms Continues for Gulf Coast, Southeast

Severe thunderstorms, capable of producing heavy rain and isolated tornadoes, are predicted to continue in areas of Alabama, Mississippi, the Florida Panhandle, Tenessee, Kentucky, and Georgia after days of tornadic activity and flash flooding in the Northern Gulf States.

  • A tornado watch is in effect until 6 p.m. CST for parts of southern Alabama, the Florida panhandle and southwest Georgia.
  • Flood watches and warnings have been issued from North Texas to Mississippi to Illinois as heavy rain continues over large areas already impacted by significant flooding. Flash flood watches and warnings are also active from Northern Mississippi to Virginia to Ohio and Indiana.

While downpours will remain, the severe weather danger is predicited to subside on Monday night.
