A red flag warning is in effect for Los Angeles and Ventura counties, according to the National Weather Service.
An extended period of warm and very dry conditions, along with gusty winds, is expected in the area through Friday evening. The combination of winds and single-digit humidity present fire weather conditions, which are expected to reach "critical thresholds" between Thursday morning and Friday afternoon.
The red flag warning is scheduled to expire Friday at 6 p.m.
