Heavy Rainfall Continues in Northern Gulf States

As a potent frontal system moves through the Northern Gulf States today, the threat for heavy rainfall continues. Local rainfall amounts in Texas and Louisiana have exceeded 15 to 20 inches, with more widespread amounts of 5-8 inches reported by the National Weather Service (NWS). The excessive rainfall brought flooding and flash flooding to some areas over the weekend. Rainfall amounts exceeding 3-5 inches are expected in Southern Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle as the system evolves.

The NWS maintains flood warnings and/or flash flood watches for areas of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.
